Dawgs Dominate: Georgia Cruises Past Texas in Home Upset Athens, GA
In a stunning display of defensive dominance, the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs cruised to a 48-7 victory over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night at Sanford Stadium. The win marks the largest margin of defeat for Texas at home against a No. 1 ranked team since 1982.
Georgia's defense was a force to be reckoned with, limiting Texas to just 215 total yards and forcing two turnovers. The Bulldogs' stingy defense allowed just one touchdown and held the Longhorns to only 10 first downs. Georgia's defensive line was particularly disruptive, applying constant pressure on Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers.
Offensively, the Bulldogs were efficient and effective, amassing 461 total yards and scoring touchdowns on five of their seven drives. Stetson Bennett IV completed 24-of-31 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns. Kenny McIntosh led the Georgia rushing attack with 104 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory solidifies Georgia's position as the top team in college football and sets them up for a potential College Football Playoff berth. The Longhorns, meanwhile, will need to regroup and find a way to bounce back from this disappointing loss.
